Pojok NTB – Hotel occupancy in Mataram has climbed ahead of the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia at the Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok. As of October 9, 2026, occupancy at three-star hotels and above had reached 90–97 percent.
Ahmad Nur Aulia, head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Tourism and Creative Economy Office, said the high occupancy rate was largely driven by corporate guests visiting the region to attend the international motorcycle racing event in Mandalika.
These guests are generally staying between October 9 and 12, coinciding with the MotoGP event.
Meanwhile, occupancy at one- and two-star hotels in Mataram stood at around 70–80 percent.
According to Ahmad Nur Aulia, guests at these hotels are mainly individual travelers and domestic tourists. Many bookings are made through online travel agents (OTAs), with more varied lengths of stay.
Unlike some bookings at higher-end hotels, reservations through these platforms do not require a minimum stay, allowing visitors greater flexibility in planning their trips.
The occupancy figures highlight Mataram’s role as one of the key accommodation hubs for visitors traveling to West Nusa Tenggara to watch the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP.
The event also presents an opportunity for hotels and tourism businesses in Mataram to benefit from increased visitor arrivals during the international racing weekend.
