Pojok NTB – The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government has confirmed that preparations are underway for the Rp84.5 billion revitalization of the Senggigi Art Market. Funded by the central government, the project is expected to begin construction in 2027 after all required readiness documents are completed this year.
Head of the NTB Provincial Tourism Office, Ahmad Nur Aulia, said the provincial government is currently finalizing the Readiness Criteria (RC) documents, which are required before the project can move forward. Meanwhile, the redesign process and tender will be managed by the central government.
“The revitalization budget is Rp84.5 billion. This year, our priority is completing the readiness documents so the tender process can begin early next year under the central government’s authority,” he said.
He explained that the provincial government is responsible for preparing environmental, social, economic, and traffic impact assessments, as the Senggigi Art Market is an asset owned by the NTB Provincial Government.
According to Ahmad Nur Aulia, the project is expected to be carried out under a multi-year scheme, with construction starting in 2027 and likely to be completed in 2028 due to the scale and value of the investment.
He emphasized that the revitalization is not merely about renovating the existing market, but about transforming the area into a modern tourism hub that will help revive Senggigi as one of Lombok’s leading destinations.
“The new development will be more than just an art market or an amphitheater. It will serve as a tourism attraction center, a cultural performance venue, a showcase for local creative economy products, and a new landmark for Senggigi,” he said.
The redesigned area will feature a multifunctional public space. During the day, it is envisioned as a comfortable place where visitors can work remotely or relax while enjoying panoramic sea views. In the evening, the venue will come alive with cultural performances, live music, and creative economy activities.
The revitalized complex will also support the nearby Senggigi Harbor by providing comfortable waiting areas for passengers while offering access to tourism attractions and public facilities.
“Our goal is to provide more activities for visitors staying in Senggigi. Many tourists spend several days here, but there are still limited attractions between their travel schedules. This project is expected to fill that gap and encourage longer stays,” Ahmad Nur Aulia explained.
Regarding future management, he stressed that the facility will remain under the authority of the regional government after completion. The final management model—whether through a government-operated unit or a partnership with another entity—will be determined later.
“One of the funding requirements is that the regional government must be ready to manage the asset after construction is completed. Therefore, its management will remain under the local government,” he concluded.
The revitalization of the Senggigi Art Market is expected to become a strategic project that restores Senggigi’s position as one of NTB’s premier tourism destinations while strengthening the local creative economy and enhancing Lombok’s international appeal.
