Pojok NTB – Qunci Villas is strengthening its commitment to wellness tourism by launching a series of health and wellness programs designed to showcase Lombok’s unique culture and natural attractions.
According to Qunci Villas General Manager Vittorio Negri, the global wellness industry is growing rapidly, and Lombok has a great opportunity to become a leading destination in this sector. However, he emphasized that wellness at Qunci Villas is more than just spa treatments or fitness activities.
For the hotel, wellness is part of a broader mission to promote Lombok’s identity and highlight the richness of Sasak culture.
“We do not want Lombok to be seen as Bali’s little sister anymore. In the long run, we want Lombok to stand on its own as a destination with a strong identity,” Negri said.
He pointed to increasing tourist demand for Lombok, including the addition of new international flights from Singapore, as a sign of growing global interest in the island.
Qunci Villas has introduced wellness experiences that incorporate local traditions, including sound healing, yoga, and holistic healing practices from the Bayan region in North Lombok. These programs are designed not only to improve guests’ well-being but also to introduce them to authentic local culture.
The hotel is also promoting Sasak cuisine through its restaurants by serving traditional dishes such as Sate Rembiga, Sate Tanjung, and Sate Bulayak, prepared with five-star hospitality standards while preserving their authentic flavors.
“We try to use local products as much as possible. Supporting local communities is an important part of our philosophy,” Negri explained.
He believes one of Lombok’s biggest challenges is that many travelers still do not fully understand the variety of experiences available on the island. Beyond its beaches, Lombok offers waterfalls, mountains, cultural attractions, culinary tourism, and many outdoor adventures.
Currently, around 70 percent of Qunci Villas’ guests come from Europe. The hotel hopes its wellness programs will also attract more domestic and Asian travelers by increasing awareness of the value of wellness and healthy lifestyles.
The wellness initiative relies heavily on local expertise. Local yoga instructors, sound-healing practitioners, and traditional healers from Bayan are actively involved in delivering the programs.
“We strongly believe in the quality of local culture. What we need is to help local people gain confidence in what they have to offer,” Negri said.
To support its wellness transformation, Qunci Villas has upgraded its gym facilities, introduced daily complimentary yoga sessions, sunset meditation programs, and is preparing to launch new detox packages. Future plans also include additional wellness facilities such as sauna and ice-plunge experiences.
Many of these services are already available to non-hotel guests, reflecting the hotel’s goal of engaging not only international visitors but also the local community.
Through these initiatives, Qunci Villas hopes to contribute to Lombok’s development as a distinctive wellness destination that combines culture, nature, sustainability, and community empowerment.
