Mataram, Indonesia — Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province is preparing to strengthen strategic cooperation with neighbouring East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Bali, with a focus on boosting cross-regional investment, a senior official said on Monday.
Irnadi Kusuma, head of NTB’s Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), said the planned cooperation would centre on investment-related sectors, including industry and trade.
“In principle, all cooperation between NTB, NTT and Bali is closely linked to investment. This includes industrial and trade sectors, which are directly connected to investment development,” Irnadi told reporters in Mataram.
As a follow-up, the three provincial governments plan to jointly organise a business forum aimed at bringing together potential investors and businesses from across the regions, he said.
The forum is expected to serve as a platform to match business opportunities and open new investment prospects in NTB, NTT and Bali.
Irnadi said the implementation of the initiative would depend on an action plan to be formulated based on a cooperation agreement that has already been signed by the three provinces.
“The next step will be the preparation of an action plan derived from the cooperation agreement that has been signed,” he said.
The cooperation is expected to strengthen regional economic integration and enhance the investment appeal of eastern Indonesia.
